Tigress Press, LLC opened its doors four years ago. We have published seventeen books to date.
In those four years, we have received a huge number of submissions, some excellent, others in need of work. While we try to read each manuscript that crosses our door, it is an impossibility, as we are still quite small.
One thing we have discovered is that there are many publishable writers out there who will never get published if they don't continue sending out their work. There are many small publishers who are fighting to bring those writers to the public.
If Tigress Press rejects your manuscript, it may not be because you are a poor writer; it may be that the subject of your book does not meet our publishing guidelines, or that we have accepted as many manuscripts as we can economically produce.
Take a careful look at your manuscript and classify it by genre.
(To find out more about genre, see an excerpt under
Resources
from
Writer's Handbook of FAQs, Second Edition, by
Doris
Booth of Authorlink.com.)
After you have classified your book, use a resource like
Writer's
Market or the web to find publishers who specialize in your
genre. Your book's chances increase proportionately based on your
ability to classify your work and submit it to an appropriate publisher.
We'd like to be able to publish more manuscripts, but have found that we can only publish the best. Learn your craft, and your manuscript might find its way to our "accepted" list.
Though Tigress Press is now closed for
submissions, we accept all genres when open. Our focus is fantasy
and romance, but if you send us a well-plotted, well-written manuscript,
we'll consider it. We believe Tigress Press is a good home for any
talented author.
